ACTION OHIO Coalition For Battered Women is a statewide domestic violence coalition, founded in 1976 by members of The Council of Ohio YWCAs. First formed to foster the development of DV shelters and quality services for victims in Ohio, ACTION OHIO continues to support the work of local agencies in a variety of ways, as well as represent their best interests within state government.

ACTION OHIO serves DV victims and their families through its resource and referral service and its annual public awareness event in October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

ACTION OHIO reaches out to build collaborative relationships with many organizations in an effort to heighten awareness of domestic violence and to encourage the involvement of professionals across disciplines to help stop violence.

ACTION OHIO seeks to work with members of the business community, to ensure that victims and their co-workers will be safe and productive on the job. By learning about domestic violence, including its impact on the workplace, employers will be able to develop a safety plan for the workplace.

ACTION OHIO members include individuals whose lives have been touched by violence, DV shelters and programs, related organizations that serve victims and their families, family and community focused nonprofit agencies, governmental entities and members of the business and legal communities.

All are concerned about family and community violence and committed to doing their part to stop violence in homes, schools and the workplace.
